Students may have had Mr. Balcerek at David E. as their art teacher, or as a faculty member at Burkett or Ingram Elementary schools. Although he has taught at most of the schools, he is here at the high school once again.
Being an art teacher for approximately twenty years, Mr. Balcerek definitely has a preferable age group to instruct: high school students.
“Compared to the lower grade levels, I am able to let my students do what they need to do,” stated Balcerek.
“Since there is more freedom for my art students, I able to monitor my class while only giving suggestions and tips to how they can successfully complete their work,” added Balcerek. Likewise, Balcerek says that the high school is overall less stressful for students: they are able to express themselves how they want in his class by making their own choices.
Outside of sharing what he loves (art), Mr. Balcerek is a full-time dad. He has two daughters that he cherishes every moment with. In his free-time, Mr. Balcerek fishes, hunts, and spends time with his family.
Mr. Balcerek’s summers are spent teaching his children to ride their bikes without training wheels, the basics of swimming, and cooking. After all, “every day is a good day” according to Mr. Balcerek and he hopes that attitude will rub off to his students both inside and outside of school.
