I had the pleasure of interviewing Ms. Condemi, one of the new teachers who we’d like to welcome to Newfield High School this year.
On her journey to becoming a teacher, Ms. Condemi went to St. Joseph’s College for four years. She majored in history and education and “loved going there.” She then went to Dowling College where she got her master’s degree in special education. As a child, Ms. Condemi was unsure of what she wanted to do when she was older. Whenever someone asked what she wanted to be she would respond, “I want to be a teacher or a whale trainer.” Although these are two very different professions, she ultimately ended up choosing to teach over whale training.
So far, Ms. Condemi is enjoying teaching at Newfield very much. She attributes this feeling to everyone “being so nice and friendly here.” Ms. Condemi believes that the most satisfying part of being a teacher is being able to help a student do something that they at first were struggling with something, whether it be “math, science, reading, anything.” She looks forward to “seeing all of [her] students achieve their goals” during her time here at Newfield.
Had Ms. Condemi not become a teacher, she believes she would currently be “a social worker or running a non-for profit volunteer organization.” It’s clear that Ms. Condemi is a kind and caring person who loves helping people. Before Ms. Condemi became a teacher, she tried out for American Idol, but unfortunately did not make it onto the show. She would still like to, however, try out for Fear Factor if the show comes back on.
Ms. Condemi is “very thankful to be able to work here and [is] very excited for this year.”
Author’s note: I’d like to personally thank Ms. Condemi for allowing me to interview me before the faculty meeting and apologize if she was late. Best of Luck at Newfield, Ms. Condemi!
