Have you heard about Solar 1? It's New York City's only self-sustaining solar powered building and it houses educational facilities for Solar One, a non-profit organization that teaches students about green energy, arts, and environmental education. We got a chance to talk to the staff at Solar One and learned about the amazing opportunities that they offer to students.

Solar One helps schools go green and find innovative solutions to environmental challenges through emerging technologies. It's green design lab focuses on practicing sustainability with an emphasis on doing so in New York City. Solar One offers a summer program that gives students a chance to discover new types of STEM-related career paths. The nonprofit offers volunteer opportunities at Stuyvesant Cove Park and encourages students to sign up online.
