NFL Takes a Stand
President Trump's comments during a speech in Alabama about non-violent protests by athletes during the national anthem caused an avalanche of action and reaction during Week 3 of the NFL. Players, coaches and even owners from across the league locked arms, knelt and stayed in locker rooms in response to Trump's calling out of Colin Kaepernick's original bent knee. But the NFL wasn't the only athletic organization to draw the President's ire over the weekend. (See below.)

Curry Controversy
There never seems to be enough controversy for our Commander and Chief. The President got into a Twitter war with Golden State Warrior superstar Steph Curry over the weekend. The ball started rolling after Curry told ESPN's Rachel Nichols that he would vote no for visiting the White House. When another reporter asked him what it would mean to skip the White House visit, Curry said, "By acting and not going, hopefully that will inspire some change when it comes to what we tolerate in this country, what is accepted, and what we turn a blind eye toward... We’re all trying to do what we can using our platforms, using our opportunities to shed light on that... I don’t think us not going to the White House will miraculously make everything better, but this is my opportunity to voice that.”
Curry and the Warriors invitation to visit the White House in honor of their NBA championship has apparently been rescinded by the White House.

Long Road to Recovery for Puerto Rico
Hurricane Maria delivered the knock out punch to Puerto Rico. The Associated Press reports that the Trump administration has sent federal aid packages to Puerto Rico to assist and speed up recovery efforts. Puerto Rico's main port has also been opened to receive shipments of food, cots, generators and water. Ships have started to deliver a total of 1.6 million gallons of water, 23,000 cots and dozens of generators.
With rescue efforts going forward at a furious pace, the devastating effects of both Irma and Maria will take months and maybe years to overcome. With over 15,000 Puerto Ricans in shelters, many people are attempting to get to the mainland of the US in an attempt to escape the devastation.
