Catastrophe in Texas
Hurricane Harvey hit Texas as a Category 4 storm over the weekend and is set to continue dumping rain across Texas until the end of this week. The storm destroyed much of the tiny fishing town of Rockport, Texas. Houston, America's 4th largest city, has been especially hard hit in the storms aftermath with torrential rains causing catastrophic flooding.

Pardon for Arpaio
President Trump courted controversy once again with his pardon of former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Arpaio was convicted of criminal contempt by a federal judge in July after being charged with violating a court order. The court order attempted to prevent suspected illegal immigrants from being targeted by the sheriff’s traffic patrols. Arpaio denied targeting illegals and was a strong supporter of the President in his bid for the White House.

The world got the fight it bargained for when Floyd Mayweather defeated Conor McGregor by a TKO in ten rounds in Las Vegas. Mayweather remains undefeated at 50-0 after the bout and it was estimated that he earned over 100 million dollars for his victory. McGregor, a UFC lightweight champion who was making his debut as a boxer, gave it his all and defied predictions of an early knockout. McGregor also earned 30 million dollars for the match, more money than he had made over his entire MMA career. Floyd Mayweather has said that this was last fight and McGregor is set to return to the UFC ring.
