When you lose someone, it feels like your whole life has been tore to pieces. When I lost my grandma, it was hard, but also taught me a life lesson. My grandma had lung cancer, she fought the cancer so hard that it eventually went away after chemo; however, it came back worse. The cancer spread through her whole body, and that's when things went down hill for her. She ended up on hospice.
She laid in her bed, at home, dying. I went to see her September 1st, 2016. She didn't look great, and I sat beside her crying like a waterfall pouring. I told her that I was going to pray for her, but I wasn't strong enough. My great aunt prayed for me. She couldn't get up, she couldn't eat on her own, she could use the bathroom, and she couldn't even take a bath by herself. Thankfully relatives came and helped her. The next morning I woke up to a phone call that wasn't great at all. My grandma died September 2nd, 2016, the day after I saw her. Flashbacks came running through my head like when I use to sit on her lap to talk to her about school. I remember her always hugging me when I would cry because something was going on. She was always there, but when she passed, I felt alone.
That's when I realized that she wasn't even gone, she was just watching from up above with my Father. I went to her funeral and was crying; however, there was a video of everybody in the family. I sat there watching it( I saw me in my baseball uniform) over again and again letting tears drop like rain on to my clothes. The lesson I learned from this is that just because someone passed away, it doesn't mean they are gone. They will always be in your heart. One quote that sticks with me every since I lost her is:
"The way to love anything is to realize that it may be lost." -G.K. Chesterton
