         Alan Rickman is an English actor and director known well for his role as Severus Snape in the Harry Potter series.  He made his big break in acting in Les Liasons Dangereuses In 1985 as The Vicomte de Valmont which was later nominated for a Tony Award. At the age of 69, he died of cancer. The last role he ever performed was the voice of the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland.
