Appreciating America pastime

America’s pastime starts in the beginning of April and spans to the beginning of October. In that time, fans follow their favorite teams, some for the pleasure of the game and others for the win.

Many of the baseball players that follow their sport through to a big career start as little peewees. They work their way through the levels starting at tee-ball, and most for the love of the game.

Those who love the game know that no matter what level of skill, the game has a certain aura to it. A group of friends, who gather for a few hours to run the bases for exercise, resembles the fun spirit of a more serious game. It may be a different feeling, but it can still be related to the game.

A cheering crowd, even if it is only one person, and snacking on delicious food, even if it is only sunflower seeds, are wonderful sounds that seem to be enjoyed at a game.

“I think my favorite part of going to the Ironpigs is the atmosphere of the games. It’s relaxing to be there, just hanging out and enjoying summer and baseball,” said Mitchell Hendricks, junior.

The local Allentown Ironpigs is a minor league baseball team that for many is a fun night filled with eating fried foods or corn on the cob. For others, this may be a time to sit behind home plate and support their local pros while enjoying their favorite sport.

This year I am a senior at Freedom High School. This is my third time taking Journalism, and I will be taking for a fourth time next semester. Have fun checking out my posts! :)
