Gorsuch Sworn in as Supreme Court Judge

After senate Republicans went "nuclear" to confirm his nomination, Judge Neil Gorsuch was sworn in by his mentor Justice Anthony Kennedy on April 10th, 2017.  Gorsuch replaces fellow "constitutionalist" Justice Antonin Scalia who died last year.

A Lifetime Postion

Barring unforeseen circumstances, the justices of the Supreme Court have have life tenure, which means they serve until they die in office, resign or retire, or are impeached and removed from office. (This never happens.) Given the ever increasing life expectancy in the U.S., a Supreme Court justice can potentially serve for more than 40 years!

Being a justice on the highest court in the nation doesn't stop misogyny. A new study has shown that the female justices (Ginsburg, Sotomayor and Kagan) are interrupted three times more than their male colleagues.

Six of the nine judges are from the East Coast of the United States. Four of them were born and raised in New York state.

Six of the judges attended Harvard College, either as undergraduates or for law school. In addition, all of the justices have attended Ivy League colleges proving that an Ivy League education means access to power in the U.S.
