This last Sunday, the Wellsboro Long Distance Running Club, a club at my school, ran in the Syracuse half Marathon. I was one of a coolest experiences I have ever had. The race started at 6:45 A.M. We started off from the OnCenter. We ran out of the city and into the suburbs for most of the race. The first few miles were easy, I wasn't struggling at all and I averaged a 9 and a half minute mile. Around mile 8, I started to struggle. On the other hand I started to speed up, and I couldn't slow down. For most of the race, I stuck with my friend, Luke. Around mile 10, I ditched him and sped up. I got to mile 11 and my legs were starting to feel like jelly. When I got to mile 12, I wanted to stop and walk, but I didn't let myself. I kept pushing. As soon as I got to mile 13, I was full of relief. At the same time, I was angry. I could see the finish line yet it was so far away. When I got to the final 150 meters. I ran as fast as I could. My legs felt like they would collapse because they were so soft. As soon as a crossed to finish line I stopped, walked, grabbed a water, and took my medal. I walked back into the OnCenter, and I saw some of the other group members that finished before me. We then walked downstairs to get the free food. I ate so much. I had pancakes, sausages, a bagel, cookies, bread, and bacon. My finish time was 1 hour, 55 minutes and 16 seconds. I was surprised by my time. I was expecting to finish in about 2 and a half hours. I had a great time, and I'm looking forward to another marathon adventure next year.
