A lot of people have a passion. Maybe you do. Maybe you don’t. Maybe you haven’t found it yet. Maybe you don’t know when and where to find one. But once you have a passion, the worst thing about it is losing it. When you start to lose interest in what you have a found amazing and interesting, maybe even intriguing for so long, what does one do? That thing you could do for hours on end becomes hard to do for a few minutes. Maybe your passion used to be writing or drawing. It could be as simple as just listening to music. But playing that one song becomes a bore or trying to think of what to draw is the only thing you can do, because you have lost your passion. You become an empty book of ideas.
After losing your passion for something you might not ever look at it again. Maybe your passion was a sport and a coach killed it when he had favorites or degraded you when you were at your lowest. Or maybe the coach always picked out your flaws. You always felt like you couldn’t quite reach the potential to actually play at the level you want to. Maybe you don’t find happiness in spending extra hours after everyone has gone home working on your skill and working on pushing yourself farther. Whenever you look at the field, maybe the court, or even the track, you get this feeling inside...like you shouldn’t be in this place.
I guess the best thing you can do when you lose passion for something is to continue to try to look at it from different perspectives. And sometimes you fall right back where you left off, after taking some time to understand why passion is so important. It’s important in about everything you do. Passion is what you have to feel to be able to be actually fully involved in something. Passion allows you to put everything you have into something you love. Look for your passion in life, because while it might be painful to lose, it could be even more painful to live without.
