Walking through the hallways can be a moment of peace for many, but the interruption from a single speaker on blast can take this all away. As a society it is evident that music plays a big role in our lives. Music is something we can all relate to in some way and it offers a chance to escape from reality into a more comfortable atmosphere. Although I agree music is great and is something we should all have access to, I feel it's not fair to blast your speakers in the hallway for a variety of reasons.
One reason I feel it is not fair to blast your speakers in the hallway is because it can lead to disturbances. Whether the hallway be in a school or a workplace, this blast of music from speakers can distract others trying to work on an important task. Let’s say for example you have a major test and you’re trying to concentrate on your answers when all of a sudden a loud obnoxious noise interrupts your study and prevents you from learning. This is one example of many why I feel you should not be allowed to blast your speakers in the hallway. This sudden blast from speakers really has no intended purpose besides being annoying. Since it serves really no purpose, why distract someone from working? It's pointless and unfair to everyone around who happens to hear it.
Another reason I feel it is not fair to blast your speaker in the hallway is because it can be perceived differently by everyone. I’m sure that everyone is aware we all have our own preferences. Blasting your speakers in a way is essentially forcing others to hear things they may not want to hear. Along with personal preference also comes interpretation. Many songs can be interpreted to have different meanings to some people. Because of this, whatever you are blasting could be found offensive to a peer. Due to the rise of derogatory terms, there is more of a chance of hurting someone. Because of this we should take steps to prevent it, not further encourage it. Forcing someone to hear something they may find offensive is not only unfair, but it’s just cruel. Since this blasting of speakers can invoke many different feelings to the listener, it becomes something that should not be done in hallways at school. By preventing the blasting of speakers you can maintain respect for everyone without offending someone.
One final reason I feel it is unfair to blast your speakers in the hallway is because it can lead to bigger problems, like fights. The things you decide to blast on your speakers can aggravate certain people. This aggravation can put you and many others at risk of being injured. Blasting speakers in the hallways is not worth potential injuries toward yourself or others. If something negative were to come out of using blasted speakers, it's unfair to have another person take the blame for it. Using things like headphones will prevent any negative incident that would come out of blasting speakers. Since this problem is easily avoidable, there really is no excuse for excessive blasts from speakers.
The blast of speakers in the hallways is something that should not be allowed any more in the future. Not only does it remain unfair but it can distract others around you, offend another person, and could lead to the possibility of you or others getting hurt. With all these negatives, taking the action to blast your speakers really is just creating a problem.
