Facebook has introduced some interesting updates and improvements to its tools that aim to help in preventing suicides attempted by individuals who also broadcast it online through their network. In one of its posts, the world’s largest social media site underscored the importance of utilizing these tools to preserve life.
“Today we're introducing updated tools and resources for people who may be thinking of suicide, as well as the support we offer to their concerned friends and family members… Professionals say that the best way to prevent suicide is for those in a crisis to hear from people who care about them… When friends are in need, reaching out can make a difference,” the post read.
Meanwhile, the person live-streaming the video will be seeing options like connecting to a friend or contacting a help line. Aside from this, Facebook has tweaked their artificial intelligence program to identify both high-risk users and live videos that might result in suicide attempts.
