Junior Ashley Skrypek continues to demonstrate improving artistic talent, excellent academics and involvement in extracurricular activities.
Ashley has taken many different art courses throughout her high school career such as; Graphic Design 1, Jewelry Design, Painting Media 1 and 2, Drawing 1 and 2, 3D Design. Her favorite art class that she has ever taken is Drawing 2 because it taught her more technique and different ways to draw.
Ashley’s favorite piece was a painting that she made in her Drawing 2 class, which depicts a flower that she painted with water color pencils.
Although Ashley does not have a favorite artist, she considers her mom to be her biggest role model.
“She supports me and I’m the first person to go to art school in our entire family so like even though it’s an untraditional career, she still supports me and helps me,” Ashley said.
Ashley credits the art classes she has taken in high school as inspiration for her dreams to attend Moore College of Art and Design, and to become a fashion designer. Ashley also believes DV’s art classes have helped her to advance her skills and get back into her passion for art.
“I want to be a fashion designer. I like being able to make something that’s 2D on a paper and make it 3D and see people wear it. I want to be able to create new styles and trends,” Ashley said.
Ashley likes to use charcoal for her art, although she has recently discovered her newfound love for watercolors as a medium.
“I can use different styles to just portray myself, and I can also do something I like,” Ashley said.
Ashley is involved in both the Computer Art and Art clubs. In addition to Ashley’s artistic ventures, she took AP World History as a sophomore and is currently taking AP United States History.
“I like being able to create something out of nothing,” Ashley said.
