Many high school students are either looking for a part-time job or have one already. It is definitely a great experience because you can learn more about yourself and you also can earn your money. However, whether you wanted to work or you had to, it is not easy but it's also not impossible. It is a lot of responsibility and commitment so you will need to learn balance. Start off by knowing your schedule then using that time wisely. Most students have cell phones, so might as well make good use of its services. Instead of keeping everything memorized, use the calendar, reminders, and to-do lists. Also, share your schedule with your family and friends. This way your family and friends know your schedule so they'll understand you can't spend time with them as often as before. Balancing school and work cannot be done alone so by sharing your schedule you are basically building a support system. This way you can always go to these people for help.
Once you have your time sorted out, start making some goals for school, for your job, and for your personal life. You are only human so don't try to be perfect just try to do your best and aim high and be a high achiever. Take it one day at a time but keep your eye on the goal. Try not to stress yourself out even more just stay focused on the current thing. If you're studying, then study; if you are working, then work, etc. Taking breaks aren't illegal. Also, remember to make time for yourself and use it to reward yourself. Live a healthy lifestyle to relieve the stress by being active and eating healthy. Exercise is a great stress reducer and will make you feel better inside and out. Sleep is always a major factor when it comes to balancing work and school but make sure to include it in your schedule. Some nights you may need to stay up later than usual to study or do homework but take a short nap on those nights so you aren't sleep deprived and don't make it a habit.
As long as you have your priorities straight and you remain positive, you should be well off. Not everyone can have the opportunity to work and go to school so don't be hard on yourself. It is a huge responsibility but don't make it harder than it is. Stay determined and remember that you don't have to be scared to ask for advice. Make every accomplishment and achievement, whether big or small, a celebration. This way you can be motivated and know that success isn't far away. It can be done and you will succeed!
