In 1951 the 22nd Amendment was passed which limited the term of the president was allowed to serve two terms. However, Congress is not limited in the number of terms.
Some argue and say that Congress needs term limits. They bring up the fact that it is not fair that the presidents can only run twice, while Congress can run as many times as they want. Along those lines, the Congress has the same amount of power as the president, so why don't they have the same time limit? Lastly, everybody should all be equal, otherwise it wouldn't be particularly fair.
Others may argue that the Congress are fine the way that they are. Congressmen individually don't really make a difference, but the president does. I feel that if the individual congressman where doing well enough to get re-elected as many times as possible, it's obviously well deserved. The Congressmen have been fine this long with it working as it is.
I feel and support the side that is okay without Congressional term limits. They don't need them because they get voted into it. The United States have worked perfectly fine without it.
