Despite great controversy on the film “A Dog’s Purpose” created to express the immense love towards animals, on Jan. 19 social media was barking with questions on whether or not the rumors of alleged animal abuse were true. Although the truth is unknown, those who fetched a ticket at the movie theater could immediately see the love and care that was put into the film especially when the animals were present.
Regardless of what took place off screen, being the animal lover I am, I realized that all I can do is hope there were no bad intentions present on set. Overall “A Dog’s Purpose” effectively portrays the strong bond between animals and humans and not only expresses the purpose of a dog’s life but also the purpose of all of our lives. This movie is viewed through the perspective of a dog, Bailey, who narrates the story using his humorous and sometimes emotional thoughts that truly allow the audience to understand the love of a dog. Touching the hearts of all, this movie was able to stress the importance animals have in our lives during the short time we have with them. It explains that they live short lives in order to return as another dog to help as many people as “paw”sible.
The powerful scenes will draw you in while breaking you down by creating emotional attachments to each and every animal making it a movie full of laughter as well as tears. If you have a love for animals and have ever wondered what goes on in a dog’s mind, I highly recommend this film, giving it four paws out of four.
