A G.M.F. is a genetically modified organism. That organism's genetic material has been altered. Normally, the food or organism has ben injected, the injection then changes the offspring and/or what it produces.
Genetically modified organisms, or, food if you will, has many advantages as well as many disadvantages. Starting with the many advantages, here are just a few. Genetically modified food uses less pesticides, which are used to kill little bugs that eat plants that grow from the ground, what they use to alter the plants kill the bugs. Along with that, we have an increased amount of nutritious foods, food supply, and shelf life. Those three things make food edible longer and in result saves money, and also makes you healthier and stronger. In states such as California or Arizona, and any other states that experience a drought, genetically modified foods are able to withstand droughts for a longer period of time. Some GMO's are specifically designed to fight diseases making them also good disease fighting foods.
To every pro, there is a con. So just like before, I'm going to give you just a few disadvantages .There are more pesticide resistance along with the fact that it decreases antibiotic efficiency. Since GMF's haven't been around that long, we have no proof or studies on the long-term affect, so we don't know if it's worth the use or not.
If you compare a genetically modified food to an organic food, genetically modified foods are "more". They have more solid colored apples, rather than apples, rather than apples that are both red and green. They have more kernels in corn, rather the organic that don't have as many. Bananas are also a bright yellow, rather than a more pale colored banana.
In my opinion, we should not use genetically modified foods. They cause more dangers the advantages and we don't know what could happen in the long run.
