Capturing the perfect selfie can be a hard task to complete, which is why Fiat Chrysler came out with a new car that takes selfies. It was revealed at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The Chrysler car, known as the Portal, was made to “catch the eyes of Millennials.” The Portal includes many new features such as places for each passenger in the car to plug in their mobile devices, taking a picture of everyone riding in the car and then sending the picture to everyone’s mobile device.
The Portal can share songs to create playlists and the car has a “zoned audio” that allows each passenger to listen to different songs without using headphones. At the same time, the technology can amplify other sounds such as an approaching siren to alert the driver. The car can also be used for keeping track of everyone’s order when they go through the drive-through.
The design of the car was made after years of researching what Millennials want from a car. The interior of the car can be customized to best suit the driver and passengers. The car seats can be moved and adjusted and even removed to create space. The cameras are placed on the outside of the vehicle. It is electronic, has a range of 250 miles with a full charge and it is capable of self-driving. The car still has a steering wheel and pedals but the steering wheel folds away when it is not in use.
The main reason that Fiat Chrysler displayed this car was to create a safer driving environment and to prevent drivers from using their phones to take selfies while driving. When people feel the need to take selfies while driving, they no longer have to put their lives or the lives of others at risk, according to Fiat Chrysler. Because this is just a concept car, people can only rely on what Fiat Chrysler says it can do. The company has not revealed plans to actually produce a vehicle like the Portal.
