SPRING
TWIN PEAKS: SEASON 3
After a 25-year hiatus, Mark Frost and David Lynch’s cult classic Twin Peaks returns this Spring as a limited Showtime series featuring original stars Miguel Ferrer, Alicia Witt and David Duchovny, as well as leading man Kyle MacLachlan. A strange blend of campy horror movie and surreal soap opera, Twin Peaks revolves around the FBI’s investigation into the death of high school popularity queen Laura Palmer in the imaginary town of Twin Peaks, Washington. The show debuted in 1990 on ABC as one of television’s top-rated shows before a second season ratings drop-off led the network to halt production. Nonetheless, the fan base grew and a 1992 brought a big-screen prequel, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. Though reviews were less than stellar, Lynch devotees hailed the film as a genius endcap to the Twin Peaks legend. Few ever expected a return, so enjoy it while it lasts!

SUMMER
GAME OF THRONES: FINAL SEASON
7 years in and HBO’s Game of Thrones has broken its own viewership records with each season, claimed 38 Primetime Emmys and 5 Screen Actors Guild awards in the process, and now, has become the network’s most watched show ever. Based upon Geroge R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire books, this serial epic follows the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros’ family dynasties as they war for the control of the region’s Iron Throne. While the end of the series has been confirmed, the almighty dollar dictates a spinoff will eventually happen, but in the meantime, don’t miss the conclusion of this chapter—not only are dragons and warring fantasy kingdoms a great escape from Donald Trump tweets, but the show is a universal conversation piece for any lunch table, water cooler, dinner party or hang out.

FALL
CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM: SEASON 9
He could’ve called it quits after Seinfeld and remained an invisible legend, living rich and relaxed on rerun royalty payments, but series co-creator/writer Larry David instead launched one of the most beloved shows of the 2000s, Curb Your Enthusiasm. Known for its non-P.C. brand of Seinfeldian humor, this pseudo-reality-autobio comedy also stars Cheryl Hines, Jeff Garlin and Susie Essman, and features a rotating cast of celebrities playing themselves. This is another one no one thought could happen—David isn’t into high-profile Hollywood living, certainly is in no need of money, and the last season wrapped six years ago. But the television world never found a replacement for the show’s unique improv format and distinctive dry humor, and the fans never let up. This Fall, they get their wish, and possibly more to follow.

Defenders will consist of eight one-hour episodes, released simultaneously so the streaming world can enjoy its favorite Winter activity: extended, uninterrupted binge watching. You’ve got months to prepare, so study up, as Defenders involves several Marvel plotlines woven into one.
