Shanksville Middle School Chorus in the Holiday Spirit

"Silent Night" is a beautiful poem written by Father Joseph Mohr for Christmas Eve and was composed by Franz Gruber. Originally the song was meant to be accompanied by an organ, but its pipes were chewed by a mouse. The guitar substituted for the organ.

Annalina Brant, Grace Homan, Madison Hunt, Sarah Miller helped to provide the  background of this Christmas song.

Students from the Middle School Chorus shared their thoughts about their experience performing, "Silent Night", in its original language, German.

"I think it was a wonderful experience because we got to sing in German. I think the audience enjoyed and was impressed by our great singing!" exclaimed Tara Boozer.

"The experience sing, "Silent Night", was awesome because it was a fun, cultural sing experience. Using the guitar was also fun because I got to learn new things." stated Kendahl Stutzman.

"The experience I had with the song, "Silent Night", in English and German was fun. It was challenging trying to learn it in German and after the concert it was completely different singing in English and in German." added Madison Hunt.

Kayla Flick said that singing "Silent Night" in German and English was "Fun!"
