On the morning of Tuesday, December 6, 2016 weather was looking good until after school. Snow, sleet, hail, and rain caused the cancellation of the high school Chorus Concert. The chorus concert was delayed until the following night at 8 o’clock but was still a full house and more standing against the wall and sitting on the steps. Mrs. Smithgall lead the concert of students in various ensembles such as Dickens Choir, Women’s Ensemble, Men’s Ensemble, and Full Chorus.
Every song was extraordinary but every students had favorites they loved to sing during the duration of the winter chorus practice. Michelle Maley a senior enjoyed the song “My Favorite Thing arr. By Mac Huff," while senior Zarrah Graves's favorite was “We Are Lights arr. By Carole Stephens”.
From varying ranges of voices from bass to soprano and alto to tenor to years in chorus changes with members. Michelle is an Alto 2 and has been in chorus since 6th grade and a member of Women's Ensemble while Zarrah has been in participating for 4 years and is a Soprano 2.
They also shared strategies for claustrophobia and not fainting while on stage during the concert. Michelle said, “Keep bending my knees.”
Zarrah said, "stay calm and keep bending your knees.”
