TRUMP SOLD HIS STOCK? CONFLICT OF INTEREST QUESTIONS REMAIN. 

U.S. Presidents traditionally place all personal financial assets that may generate conflict with their duties into a “blind trust”, a fund managed by a non-family, independent party who sells these assets, then uses the profits to purchase undisclosed investments. Donald Trump plans to ignore this precedent and let his children to guide his corporate interests, while he retains ownership. However, Trump spokesman Jason Miller now indicates the President-elect sold all of his in public stock holdings weeks ago. Despite widespread media requests, Trump’s camp has yet to provide factual evidence that proves this claim. In a 2016 financial disclosure report, Trump announced $20 million worth of family trusts and investment funds containing stock and bonds. Given Trump’s stance on family assets, questions have arisen whether Miller is also referring to these holdings.

BEN CARSON NOMINATED FOR HUD HEAD

On Monday, President-elect Donald Trump named failed G.O.P. presidential nominee Ben Carson as his candidate for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. A surprise move, seeing that last October a member of Carson’s camp commented that the neurosurgeon had no interest in becoming the Secretary of Health and Human Services, as he had “no experience running a federal agency,” and “the last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency.” Carson also has no fair housing policy experience, though Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch commented “he has medical experience” and will “pick it up so fast their heads will be spinning.”

AL GORE DISCUSSES CLIMATE CHANGE AT TRUMP TOWER

Former U.S. Vice President and longtime environmental activist Al Gore recently met with President-elect Donald Trump to discuss the realities of climate change, a topic Trump has brushed off time and again.  Though specifics of the discussion were kept under wraps, Gore did tell reporters he had a “lengthy and very productive session” with Trump, and that the meeting “was a sincere search for areas of common ground…an extremely interesting conversation, and to be continued.” Gore, who stars in the global warming documentary An Inconvenient Truth, also met separately with future first daughter Ivanka, an individual many have come to view as a more diplomatic and rational extension of the Trump camp. In addition to Gore, hundreds of scientists have recently pressed the issue on Trump, delivering a collective letter that presents climate change as inarguably real.

RYAN SAYS TWEETS DON'T MATTER

When asked during a CBS “60 Minutes” interview about Donald Trump’s tweeting habits, House Speaker and Republican power player Paul Ryan answered “it doesn’t matter to me…I don’t care.” Regarding Trump’s tweeted claim that millions of people voted illegally, Ryan commented “I have no way of backing that up...I have no knowledge of such things,” adding “who cares what he tweeted if we fix this country’s big problems”? Though Ryan noticeably steered clear of Trump during campaign season, he has recently has begun to edge into Trump supporter territory, citing multiple “productive” private meetings with the President-elect. “I think there is a bit of a difference between the private person and the public person. In the private person…it’s all about how to get things done,” said Ryan.

COMET PIZZA PLACE IS A POLITICAL PUZZLE. 

Claiming to be investigating an online conspiracy theory that Washington, D.C, pizza parlor Comet Ping Pong is really the site of a Satanic child abuse sex cult run by Democrats, an armed North Carolina man entered the restaurant on Sunday and fired several rounds at an employee. Fortunately, the targeted employee managed to escape, no related injuries were reported and the shooter was taken into custody without further incident. The man, who confirmed to police that his attack was related to #Pizzagate, will now face the charge of assault with a dangerous weapon. James Alefantis, the owner of Comet Ping Pong, told NPR that #Pizzagate is "an insanely complicated, made-up, fictional lie,” created by far-right web fringe users as an "insane sort of joke."
