Does your school have a S.A.D.D. program? Do you even know what that is?
S.A.D.D. means Students Against Destructive Decisions. It is a school group that does many things, such as fundraisers during the holidays or just regular school events. At our school, S.A.D.D also organizes the talent show and the mock car crash before the prom.
One project S.A.D.D. is doing right now is the “Secret Santa Candy Canes.” For Christmas, S.A.D.D. is going to provide candy canes, and students can write a secret letter for someone special. The little elves from S.A.D.D. are going to be handing them out right before Christmas. It’s only $1!!
S.A.D.D. members love it. “This program probably has been the best in all of my ten years in school,” tenth grader Megan Santiago said.
Even being able to tell people you’re in S.A.D.D. is such a good feeling because you’re usually helping people out or just having a good time in general. I interviewed another S.A.D.D. student and she was going on about how good it was and kept saying how happy she was that she decided to do it. She was smiling the whole time talking about it.
Other members say that they weren’t really sure about joining this club but they tried it. A couple weeks into it they were so happy to be involved in such a great group.
The teacher, Mrs. Saul, who leads S.A.D.D. is such a sweet heart too and always tries her best to do the right thing. Every time we make money from our school she throws us a pizza party or gets us snacks to thank us and celebrate our work.
Many members feel like more people should join this group and realize how good it feels to be in it. You would have to sign up in the beginning of the year though.
This group tries their hardest to make this school a better place and tries to bring more people together.
