On Tuesday, November 3rd, Columbus Public Schools will be shutting down due to Election Day. Buildings around the district will be used as polling places, and students will be doing remote learning in order to practice a “red day.”
According to CHS administration, on a red day, the students will be required to complete homework. If students are not viewing their homework and turning it in, the student is considered absent that day. Since there will be no zoom meetings throughout the day, the students must look at Google Classroom for the lesson and have it turned in by 11:59 p.m. on November 3rd. If students have any questions about anything that is happening on the day of, please email your teachers between 8 am - 4 pm. Just like any red day, there will be no activities and clubs.
Overall, the number one thing that students need to complete is their assignments that the teachers assign on Google Classroom. It is important that we are completing the assignments so as to not interrupt our schooling in case red days happen sometime throughout the year. It is also important that the teachers know that we are responsible and we can also still learn remotely at home. Ultimately, this practice red day is an important step in testing our readiness for the worst possible scenario, so students need to give the day their best effort.
