Picture this… you’re walking down a long hallway, smoke begins to cover the ground billowing in from the opening ahead that leads to the area floor. You have finally made it to a Harry Styles concert. In this fantasy, it’s his third world tour, so it must finally be time for new music.  However, as you take your place, the opening notes of the over-hyped and overplayed “Watermelon Sugar hi (lol)” begin to sound…

Harry Styles is a British musician and former member of the insanely successful band One Direction. Styles released his first solo album, referred to by fans and media as “HS1”, in May of 2017. His next album, “Fine Line” was released in December 2019. In the intervening time, “Harries” have been anxiously awaiting new music only to be comforted by a few movies and a make-up line.  Luckily, the die-hard-Harries have been clamoring with suspicion of new music, and, though they may just be grasping at straws, there is substantial evidence to suggest that they might just be right.

The first hints come from his social media and website. Since his days in One Direction, Styles has always pinned a tweet that announced his latest album. His tweet for “Fine Line” had been pinned since the album was released in November 2021, but was just recently taken down. And then on his website, Styles has removed the links to some of the music videos for the “Fine Line” album.  That begs the question as to why would he takedown a promotion for his most recent music if there was no new music soon to come? 

The second hint comes from his promise to Columbia Records. In order to maintain his contractual obligation, Styles must release a new album during the current fiscal year. The fiscal year for Columbia Records ends on April 1st, 2022. So, that means Styles must release an album with them before that date so he does not lose ties with the company. Another major hint from Columbia is that the CEO of Sony (the parent company of Columbia Records) said that there would be a new Harry Styles album before or during March of 2022.

The final reason why Styles might be dropping new music soon is because of his commitment to upcoming music festivals. Styles is committed to playing at 2022 Coachella as a headlining act and is rumored to be performing in the next, hopefully un-disastrous Fyre Fest. With concerts and festivals on his schedule, Styles is likely to expose his kind of music to a brand new audience.  Wouldn’t it make sense for that audience to have a new album to purchase for their new favorite musician?

All in all, there are many signs that Styles is going to be dropping new music soon. This comes from a variety of hints that range from him giving subtle hints that only die-hard fans would see, all the way to the CEO of the parent company to his record label conforming it.
